Against the Kremlin

On International Women's Day, March 8, the Nope Bar & Gallery (Porto) will host the exhibition Women Against the Kremlin, featuring female artists whose work criticizes the official position of the Russian Federation.

Since the beginning of the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine, female artists have been at the forefront of resistance – opposing imperialism, military aggression and political repression. They continue to fight despite threats, forced emigration and growing risks. In Russia, women's voices are increasingly being silenced: feminist activism is equated with "extremism", and the wives and mothers of soldiers are declared "foreign agents". Meanwhile, the state is curtailing reproductive and sexual rights, imposing patriarchal norms under the guise of "traditional family values". But all this does not stop our heroines, and all new problems become only themes for new works.

The exhibition will feature works by Sasha Skochilenko, Nadya Rapli, Nadya Ukhanova, Yana Tark, Milada Kopeliovich, Liza Pushkina, Aysha Demina, Masha Bolotina, Linor Goralik, Katya Quel, Alice Femina, art group Pomidor, Daria Hoffman and Tanya Gaichka.

The exhibition will run until April 12. Free entrance
